Description

About the area: Aero is located between Bournemouth and Sandbanks in Poole, the doorstep of adventure. Explore the dramatic cliffs and hidden coves of the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Soak up the sun on the golden sands of Studland Bay, just a ferry ride away. Venture further and discover the rolling hills and hidden valleys of Dorset, hike stunning trails or explore charming villages and the infamous horses of the New Forest National Park.

Description of Beds: Aero sleeps up to two adults and two children. Downstairs there is a rock and roll bed (1900mm x 1100mm), and upstairs there is a pop-top bed (2400mm x 1100mm). The pop-top is suitable for use when it's not too windy, for the full camping experience, and is weight-rated for 200kg. On wet and windy, or winter nights, when cosiness is key, leave the pop-top down and snuggle up in the well-insulated van interior.

Description of Seating: Aero has three belted seats in the front (including driver) with headrests and two further belted seats in the rear. All five seats have three-point belts. As the front two seats swivel around, you can fit 4 people comfortably in the main living space.

Description of Electrical Setup: Aero is built as an off-grid camper and the electricity for the van is powered by the sun! There is a large solar panel on top of the pop-top which charges a leisure battery, which in turn charges the fridge and other electrical items in the van. There are two USB outlets in the rear and two in the front, one including a car charger. The leisure battery also gets charged by the car when it's running. Please note that you can charge iPads and other 12W devices, but Aero is a laptop-free zone as there are no plug sockets. You can download an app to keep an eye on the amount of power in the leisure battery.

Parking: Aero is parked on a quiet residential street, with private parking, and you are welcome to leave your car in its normal spot whilst you take Aero for an adventure. If you come by train, pick up can be arranged from Bournemouth or Branksome Train Station.

Cooking Equipment: Everything you need to whip up a delicious meal is tucked away neatly under the rock-and-roll bed. This includes two Alpkit pans, which fit perfectly on the hob, copper cutlery, a sharp knife, kettle and teapot, a four-person set of bamboo plates, bowls, and mugs, water glasses, a chopping board, tin opener, spoon, bottle opener, and washing up bowl. A small dustpan and brush are also provided.

Water and Sanitation: Aero has one 10-litre jerry can to supply tap water, which is easily refillable, and a separate 10-litre jerry can to collect the wastewater. Both jerry cans are removable for convenient refilling and emptying. Aero has a convenient outdoor solar shower, perfect for rinsing off after a day of adventure. You can also add on a mud-daddy dog-wash to clean off your pooch.

Audio Equipment: Aero's audio system lets you control music, radio, and calls via a touchscreen. USB plug-in and Bluetooth are both available so you can play your own music.

Type of Heating: Aero is cosy and does not have heating, but it comes with two hot water bottles for an eco-friendly campervan experience.

Pet Information: Your furry copilot is very welcome in Aero, which has been designed for adventures with your canine chums. Aero provides ample room for your dog to relax after a day of adventure. The durable surfaces make cleaning up after muddy paws a breeze, and food and water bowls can be provided. Aero is made for one dog, but you could probably squeeze in another one (or two) if desired.

Extra Information: This extraordinary campervan is more than just a vehicle; it's a testament to our creativity and dedication as architects. We meticulously transformed Aero from the inside out, stripping the interior, cutting windows, and laying the ship-deck floor. Hidden storage compartments throughout Aero ensure everything has its place. But functionality doesn't come at the expense of style. Every detail, from the hand-stained joinery to the Cole & Son palm jungle fabric ceiling, seamlessly blends with the overall copper, green, palm, and beach aesthetic. The meticulous soundproofing and insulation ensure a peaceful escape, while the hand-made copper worktop, hand-fitted sink and tap, and hand-laid flooring showcase a dedication to quality and sustainability. We designed Aero for the perfect getaway, combining our architectural sensibilities with a love for nature, all while minimising our environmental footprint.

Conversion Story: Aero was built with wanderlust and sustainability in mind. We always dreamt of getaways with Jiro (our travel-loving cocker spaniel), and exploring new places without the environmental footprint of air travel. We’ve taken ferry trips to France and done epic road trips to Barcelona fuelled our desire for a more eco-friendly escape. Aero is a brilliant van and has never let us down! Aero’s striking mint green paint job was the first thing to grab our attention, but, living in London at the time we were also reassured by the Euro 6 engine meaning we could explore even cities with low-emission zones. Aero's transformation was a labour of love. We tackled most of the conversion ourselves. For the more technical aspects, we enlisted the help of professionals. Wherever we go, Aero turns heads! The generous headroom provided by the pop-top roof truly expands the living area, and our personal favourite touch is the hand-crafted copper worktop. When deciding on the name "Aero" simply sprung to mind, perfectly capturing the van's minty freshness and streamlined design.

About the Owner: For the past four summers, Aero hasn't just been a campervan; it's been our summer adventure companion. We (Steph & John) are both architects with a passion for sustainable design. Aero is the rolling embodiment of that philosophy – a testament to eco-friendly travel crafted with care. We spend our summers chasing waves on the Cornish coast, but Aero's not afraid to explore further afield. We've traversed John's native Scotland, including a breathtaking journey around the Isle of Skye. Our all-time favourite trip was a sun-soaked adventure along the Loire Valley, culminating in the stunning Costa Brava. We chose Quirky Campers because they perfectly aligned with our values. They celebrate well-designed vans, just like ours, and understand that van life should feel like your dream vacation!
